FORMER Selangor midfielder Zainal Velayappan played an inspirational role in Public Bank’s 2-0 win over Agro Bank in the final of the veteran category in the AmBank Group Inter Financial Institutions futsal competition at the HTO de Futsal in Subang Jaya recently.
Despite being a bit overweight, Zainal was in the thick of action and scored both Public Bank’s goals in their win against debutants Agro Bank. As the champions, Public Bank took home RM750.
Men’s Open champs: CIMB team players with their prizes.
In the women’s category, RHB became the champions after a 8-7 penalty kicks win over CIMB in the final. There was no score during normal time and the winner was decided on penalty kicks. The winning spot kick came from Nor Diana Mohamed and earned RHB RM750.
The men’s open champions was CIMB, who defeated AmBank Group 3-1 in the final. AmBank Group opened accounts through Mohamed Heazry but were unable to maintain their supremacy. CIMB came back strongly and Sheikh Mohamed Yazid (2) and Mohamed Yusof scored for CIMB, which received RM2,000.
